Tracey Russell

Tracey Russell was recently named the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Philanthropy for McCourt LP, a family-owned global enterprise focused on building long-term value through entrepreneurial, strategic, and philanthropic investments and partnerships. In her new role, Russell will focus on McCourt LP’s continued global expansion, partnering with long-term international advisors to formalize those relationships and open offices in key European and Asian markets.  She will also oversee the articulation and communication of the McCourt LP brand and further define governance structures and metrics to help ensure the success of McCourt LP and its numerous businesses units.

Additionally, Russell will serve as Head of Philanthropy, working closely with Frank McCourt and the McCourt family to ensure creation of the greatest social impact possible. She will help establish connectivity across McCourt’s numerous philanthropic efforts and will play an active role with key partners including Georgetown University, the McCourt School of Public Policy, The Shed, and The Future Project.

Since 2013, Russell has been the Chief Executive Officer of Conqur Endurance Group, a McCourt subsidiary, which creates world-class experiences that ignite passion in athletes and connect communities through the transformative power of sport.  In her first few months in that role, Russell spearheaded the city-wide effort to secure Los Angeles as the host of the successful 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials for the Men’s and Women’s Marathon. Additionally, Russell and her team over the last four years have delivered highly-successful Los Angeles Marathon weekends, providing a world-class experience to over 25,000 runners each year and further solidifying the marathon as a must run global race. During her tenure, Russell has taken a one weekend event company and transformed it into a year-round business by adding new events to the portfolio including the Pasadena Half Marathon & 5K.

Russell previously served as the executive director of the Atlanta Track Club and race director of the AJC Peachtree Road Race – the world’s largest 10K running event with 60,000 participants. Before that, she served as director of events for the Metropolitan Richmond Sports Backers. In 2010, Russell was awarded the Women’s Running magazine Trailblazer Award, a national award presented each year recognizing a woman in the running industry who has been a leader and a pioneer and has served the sport with distinction.

Russell currently serves on the board of directors for the Los Angeles Sports Council, Students Run LA, Ragnar Relay Series and the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission Advisory Board. Born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Russell received a B.A. from the University of Virginia where she was a collegiate swimmer. She’s a former high school All-American and was a participant at the 1988 U.S. Olympic Trials in Swimming.
